Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi all,

I am looking to create an online community forum and have had no luck in finding anyone online who is able to assist me with this.

Website creation is completely new to me, and whilst I have done some research at the local library and online I still don't understand enough about the process to be able to instruct a company to begin making the website.

Does anyone have any good recommendations?

Who created HOL?

Hi Peter, You don’t need experience really. I created HoL with none using what at the time was a leading edge white label package. It used to have great support. Now it’s okay but not what it was a decade ago when social media was in its infancy.

What are you looking to create a forum for?

Hi Hugh, I am looking to create a forum for people who are interested in exploring the history of the River Thames.

Are you looking for something that’s free?

No, I want to pay to have it created.

Okay. That should give you any number of options. I’ll try and remember to dig out one or two possibilities for you tomorrow. Do feel free to remind me if I forget.

Great! Sounds good. Thanks Hugh

I would recommend https://www.discourse.org/ as a modern community software. You can pay for them to host / manage it for you, but self-hosting will be cheaper.

If you have no experience with installing software/webhosting you may be able to find a freelancer or small company who will install it for you + maintain it for a monthly fee.

You could create a Facebook Group.
There are plenty of examples you could look at.

Thanks. I have considered this, but I want something more professional
