Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Please be on the look out for a group of boys mugging bikes. Three boys attempted to take my bike this evening at 7pm. They were about 13-14 two were possibly turkish and one afro/carrib descent. Two were on bikes and one on foot ie so they can take yours off you and have a person to ride the stolen one!
I saw them wheeling around on the top of Raleigh road and decided to avoid them by cutting through the passage to Sidney road. They had obviously spotted me because they came down from the top end of Sidney road and tried to take my bike. They were quite shocked that i had them sussed and was shouting at them and anyone who could hear what was going on. Because they were quite taken aback that i knew what they were about to do it gave me a few minutes to get up to Wightman road. They were still pursuing me when i was cycling up towards Hornsey High street regardless of the traffic and people about!
please be on the look out and cycle defensivley

At about 18:55 I was taking my little boy to his Kung Fu lessons in the Harringay YMCA and they were on the Crouch End side of Hornsey Station. Could there be some CCTV footage of them crossing over the footbridge? They were practising being slightly menacing but hard to do when there's a cute little boy on a bike in his martial arts getup who says "It's not Karate, it's Kung Fu!' when they ask where he's going to Karate. Their friend not on the bike had just joined them from Crouch End direction.
I guess it's a bit much to think that if someone took these kids to Kung Fu lessons or taught them how to build a fence we might be playing a non-zero sum game.
what did the police say/do?
One minute, they chased you up the street to hornsey tying to mug you. Thats what you said. If thats what you think then call the police, let them know about john seeing the same group outside hornsey station so they can check the CCTV. These kids may have previous. You are wasting no ones time by calling the police and possibly saving someonelses bike in the process.
And I am relly sorry this happened to you. Sorry not to have metioned this in my previous post.
That's awful, CR. Hope you're not too shaken.

Please report what happened: if the incident is not recorded, it will be deemed not to have happened. The more incidents of street violence are logged, the more pressure on the police to be seen to address street violence generally and women's safety in Haringey in particular.

Take care.
Yup - SNT (Safer Neighbourhoods Team) are the neighbourhood police on the beat.
does one have big hair, and is another quite a lot smaller? If so I might have seen these characters yesterday eve on the Ladder walking downhill with just one bicycle
Sadly I don't think they wanted to steal your bike to sell it. You are literally left behind if your friends have wheels and you don't.
