Can't recall name but beside the locksmith going towards Haringey overground on Green lanes is a tiny shop that does exchanging gold, sells watches and jewellery I think. But I know it does watch batteries because I got two recently for £5each which was much cheaper than Wood Green. Somebody on the forum is bound to know the name but walk up to Haringey overground and on that side is a tiny shop which sells batteries.
That sounds good but I find it difficult to put the watch battery into the watch. The chap puts it in and checks your battery to see if it is dead as well.
If you're Seven Sisters end, the hardware shop by the indoor market (The Everything Shop, so called because anyone going in there will find something they want) does watch batteries for £3 fitted last time I was there. I know I can buy the batteries cheaper but I can never get watches open.
Tick Tock in Shopping City's market area. £5 - £6 a go.
Always found this place above in the Market Hall very good for watch battery changing.
I think any of the jewellers on Green Lanes should do it...... if you can get them to let you in the door!
The best place is in Wood Green shopping mall, Level 1, east side of the pedestrian overpass as it goes over the High Road, south side of the walkway, a few shops before you get to the cinema entrance and after the games shop. They sell watches, etc and it's the only place I've found locally who can change a watch battery on a particular watch that others have trouble with.
I don't know what the shop name is, but I've used them about 3 times, over the last 3 years, and they are excellent, they will give a 12 mnths guarantee on paper if you ask and they do the job while you wait.
If you buy the battery at Lido they'll put it in for you for free.
I can also recommend the stall in the middle of shopping city upstairs. Very helpful and quick, and do cheap and strong watch straps as well.
