My favourites are definitely those of the junction of Tottenham Court Road and Charing Cross Road before Centrepoint. I can just about remember these buildings. Recall thinking how modern Centrepoint was, but now it's clear how it totally spoilt that area and blighted it, by making it possible to be used as bus 'turnaround point' - TCR as London's Busmen know it.
Seen here in 1959:
St Giles High Street was part of the ancient road from London to Oxford. New Oxford Street is a late victorian addition - A 'St Giles' by-pass.

Going a bit OT, this 1850 map shows very clearly the relevance of St Giles High Street to the East West thoroughfare London to Oxford. http://london1850.com/cross11.htm
New Oxford Street had already been pushed through to the north, in order to by-pass High Street and Broad Street, St Giles.
