Today's ( 18/1 ) Sunday Times has a feature on learn to code in 1 day. I think you will need next week's too.

I can keep today's and pass it to you if you are interested.

Try Ruby?

Why's Poignant Guide to Ruby is also quite sweet although aimed slightly higher than 10 years old.

Thanks John but given that my grandchildren are 4,6,8 &10 at the moment, I'll keep 'Ruby' in mind for a year or two yet!
