Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Did anyone else notice that pencils were provided to voters locally?

yes - always

Pencils are always provided to voters at polling stations.

Traditionally a special pencil is used - it's impossible to rub out without leaving a mark.  Pens are risky because they can leak and spoil people's ballot papers. Plus from an archiving point of view apparently a document written in pencil will last longer, ink fades quicker if its exposed to sunlight

That's quite interesting!
