Virgin Media outage on Wightman Road
have had no broadband or tv for the past 6 days! Is anyone else effected? There’s lots of vm posts, but can’t see anything current...Virgin have been useless, saying there’s a problem in the area and keep moving the fix estimate daily!

Leave Virgin Media Its the worst provider in this area. I was was months and months with out broadband on and off over a couple of years. Their customer service is diabolical. They make up a date when it will be fixed but its all fake. Leave and go to another provider as soon as you can .

Thanks, totally agree but who else provides tv and broadband without the hideous (in my opinion) satellite dishes....

I'm a Virgin Media customer who previously had a troubled few years of service. Of late it's been fine.
However, I've been looking at options from a cost point of view.
As far as TV is concerned, we don't stray far beyond the broadcast channels, pretty much all of which can be viewed via Freeview. That's obviously a lot cheaper than Virgin!
With regards to broadband, I've previously needed high bandwidth. But now my call for that has dwindled. Whilst they don't offer the mega-speeds of Virgin, my understanding is that what Plusnet provide is sufficient for most people. They offer packages between 4 and 72MB for between £20 and £28 per month. You can add unlimited UK landline and mobile calls for £8 a month or evenings only calls for £4. So your total would be between £24 and £36 with TV via Freeview.
The questions that have meant I'm yet to make the move are:
1. What does 70MB feel like? Any issues with it vs 200MB?
2. What's the quality of Freeview TV pictures? Are they better with a modern aerial?

Very helpful thanks. I’m currently looking at options. My total outage lasted 11 days and then only found out from the engineers that there was a car parked over the service hatch so they did nothing! Yet again had no internet for 3 days and just been fixed but for how long...
