I just noticed that my download speed is very low - roughly 4mbps .

Have tried quite a few of "speed test" sites and all give me the same result.

No problems with latency/ping.

I sympathise. The Virgin service is very up and down. They have too much demand for the infrastructure they have in place. Sometimes, at weekends in particular, I find that changing the wifi channel helps. I skip between 4, 6 and 11.

I am using a physical (wired) connection on the laptop that I performed the tests and I have recently moved in the are so I have no previous data/experience in order to perform some valid comparisons.

Nevertheless you are most probably right since that was the norm in Brentford as well - during weekends we had a huge drop on the speed so most probably it has to do with their infrastructure.

Also channels have to do based on the networks in your area (what frequencies your neighbours use) Also some other devices cause interferences so it is worth searching for the optimal channel(s)

Most probably you are aware of these but I thought to write them anyway in case they might help somebody else

apparently the box outside my property has a fault .....so another engineer is on the way tues.
