I got a call on my mobile this morning, purporting to be from Virgin Media: I have a home TV/phone/internet 'package' with them but not my mobile phone. The caller said I had been such a loyal customer that I deserved a discount; they then asked for three letters of my password, at which I got suspicious and terminated the call.
I called Virgin Customer Services, and it turned out to have been a genuine call - they offered me £5 a month off my services for a year's contract, which is not a problem for me as I've been with them years. I'm jolly glad I rang them back, as I would have otherwise been concerned whether the call was fraudulent, and the result was a decent saving!
