My wife just told me 'A Virgin Media guy has just tagged something in the front garden' I shot out to see a Virgin Media van heading down the street. The wheelie bin was pulled out and not repositioned. Not a big deal, and I don't even know what he did, but we are not Virgin customers and I expect to be asked for permission to enter my property. Is it worth contacting Virgin if I don't have the van reg?

I once found Virgin Media drilling a hole in my front wall so that they could get their cables into the house next door. My shouts were ignored till they had finished the hole at which point they turned round and said "we've done it now love".
For months after I was bombarded with letters suggesting I switch to Virgin Media now that my neighbour is cabled up. Now, at this time I was slowly losing tv reception thanks to the creation of the new school in Woodberry Grove to I thought I'd get cable, with Virgin Media. The installation team failed to tell me that their equipment was not compatible with my 3 year old laptop. Eventually they sent me a dongley thing to plug into the laptop (as I was out they delivered it to the crack house over the road, the occupants of which were less than keen to hand it over). The dongley thing didn't work anyway, or the next one they sent. So I gave in and treated myself to a new laptop only to discover that the Virgin internet didn't actually work properly. It took a further 6 months to get functioning internet. Virgin Media did refund some of the monthly fee but as they had put the price up in the middle of a "fixed fee" 18 month tariff it didn't make much difference. So I put my flat on the market and ran away. I did so enjoy the pictures of Sir Richard Branson splashing my cash on his private island.
When navigating Virgins **** website(they assume you are a customer) I did notice on the contact section a box to inform them of damaged cabinets. Yes you are doing their job for them but the engineers don't care cos they have a jobs list and wont want to know......
Try emailing cabinet.plant@virginmedia.co.uk. This has worked for me in the past although it takes them a while to actually do anything and they don't respond to your email.
There's also a phone number. 0870-888-3116. (Choose Option 1)
In my experience of regular reporting, Virgin are getting worse about sorting out problems with street cabinets. All too often they simply use yellow tape to hold a damaged door. They don't even seem to bother removing litter accumulated inside.
Since June 2013 the company has been owned by Liberty Global, based in New York.

Yes have noticed Alan, really squeezing the margins....Update....engineer came into my garden this morning without asking. When I politely questioned his being there without my permission and without even asking he just shrugged. I asked him to leave and he refused. I threatened to call the cops and he said 'I don't give a ****' followed by casual swearing. Cops arrived and said they could do nothing as it was a civil trespass. Felt a bit sorry for them. Have written to Virgin firmly and politely requesting a response. Victor Meldrew may spring into action as its clear that the engineer felt he had nothing to fear. He could have sorted by saying sorry and requesting permission which I would have given.
