Just back from my run round the park, and I was amazed how busy it was. I mean every single area of the park was being used, by different groups. There were very large areas being used by very dirty/ muddy tough mudders, who looked like they were having the best fun. Then the funfair was still there. All the pitches/ courts were full either with football tournaments, baseball, American football, all looking very intense and serious
great to see the green space being used and enjoyed by so many, although pity the gardeners. Lol. It’s funny, how no one ever complains about the funfair and the mess it leaves. Doh
anyway isn’t it great so many are getting out, being healthy, instead of being at home sitting on computers. And anyway grass will be good as new in a couple of months, just in time for the wireless festival to trash it again. Summer must be coming

I went round today and was shocked at the vandalism of the Tough Mudder event.
I went around today [ Thursday] as I do most days - first walking the dog then training with Sammy - park was virtually empty and those who were there were so disheartened by the devastation [not an exaggeration] . Some groups of men clearly surveying the damage not sure who they represented. For those regulars who remember the Electricity board working on the north perimeter a year or so ago, they ploughed up a patch of about 150 square metres which they made good BUT it required harrowing , raking, seeding, fencing off and about another month before full germination and another month before it was "usable". This recovery will be far more difficult as it wends its way all around the park.
So some of the usage described will now be limited for some long period of time. The funfair is a pain for some but they at least seem to have sorted out better paths / access this year.
Totally agree. Great to see so many people enjoying every aspect of the park.
Shame that the righteous of Harringay are being so NIMBY about Tough Mudder. I'd much rather have the fit and healthy running round my local park than the usual bunch of no-hopers loitering about, being dodgy and bringing the tone down.
Its the council and useless Lammy's cronies who need to up their game and attract more events like Tough Mudder and make provision to properly manage the park both before and after the event.
Fit and healthy people run around the park every Saturday morning at 9am without a) paying £100 or b) causing extensive destruction to the park.
Of course you can run around the park any time you like (as long as your path isn't blocked by a funfair for instance) but it is nice to do it as part of the parkrun community.
I don't usually agree with the Friends of Finsbury Park but on this occasion I do. The park will take a long time to repair. It's in a very sorry state.
“Usual bunch of no hopers”? Guess this must include me, the dog walkers, the grandparents and Mums with their kids, the many joggers, the keep fit classes and basketball players. To mention but a few - these are the people I see nearly every week day and more at the weekend. Not a nimby, just a regular user of the park saddened to see the state the park has been left in … please try not to descend into denigrating the rest of us in this quite frankly insulting manner!
