Unfinished Loft / Haringey Building / Dan James
Hi, has anyone had any dealings with Dan James or Assent/Oculus?
We were meant to get the loft conversion signed off but it fell by the side as husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in 2024. After a long battle thankfully he’s finally in remission. Now we have to get the loft finished and signed off by the council.
I’m aware Dan James went into liquidation so I’m looking for some advice.
The loft was never signed off by the council. Assent/Oculus( dealing with the application and signing off ) also went into liquidation .
Assent/Oculus informed the council with a Notice Of Cancellation ( saying I couldn’t be contacted and there was no way to get access to my house which is bullshit ) but they changed a few letters in my email address so I would not be aware of what was going on.
I’ve contacted Haringey Council Building and I’m having to reapply for planning permission and start the whole purpose over by myself.
I have the last assessment from Assent/Oculus and there are a number of things Dan James didn’t finish.
Has anyone had to deal with this and could recommend a builder to complete the work?
I’ve had a few quotes but would really appreciate some info

Hi Martin,
our loft was finished before Dan James disappeared, thankfully. But we are in the same position with Haringey building control because of Assent/Oculus. Happy to share information. Not sure I should put my tel on here though… Tania (Warham rd)
