Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi

Has anyone got any advice about the underlay / shockpads for artificial turf? There seems to be one multicoloured type I’ve seen everywhere in different depths - Pro play. Has anyone used it? Or gone for a different type? Are you happy with it?

Thanks!

We just had sand under ours when the contractor laid it. With hindsight, I wish I hadn't used artificial grass & I now feel guilty that I did. One of the joys of being in the garden is feeling the earth & plants under your bare feet on a sunny day. I just see artificial grass now as a massive piece of plastic which has no benefit to wildlife, has limited flood water retention value (this can vary) & will never bio-degrade. So many people are using it that collectively it must be having a detrimental impact on habitat loss for invertebrates in our cities. If you are in a position to consider natural alternatives which require little maintenance/no mowing, I found these articles useful

Agreed wholeheartedly. Artificial turf is just so hideous - a lawn isn’t that high maintenance, and it’s quite meditative to take care of it. I take a lot of pride in mine and can’t fathom why anyone would use plastic grass...

How big is yours? Maybe we could trade? Everyone’s a winner!

Please don't lay artificial turf, follow the advice above. Just think about the rest of the creatures that are sharing our planet, don't be selfish, every bit of natural earth is of huge importance to all of us, including insects and those that fed on them..
