Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello everyone. I'd just like to recommend Umut Meat....469 Green Lanes....in the last few weeks I've had everything's from Lambs liver to extra aged T bone steak and and a few chops and rib eyes as well they have all been delicious beautifully presented and expertly butchered. The owners and staff are a delight too....really helpful and knowledgeable.....I'm thinking of ordering a crown roast of lamb for Xmas.....

Been there a few times. They have good marinated meat eg chicken and lamb. Yet to try their aged steaks but good variety. No bavette (flank steak) but I find Halal butchers tend not to have all the cuts of beef

What a brilliant idea....I'm going to ask on my next visit....I did enquire if they have goat....I was told to order a couple of days in advance and they'd be happy to order some......getting a tad peckish just writing this.....have fab weekend everyone

Expertly butchered? What does that mean? I'm disappointed another butcher opened after Baldwins closed. It's unpleasant walking past killed animals displayed in the shop window and the bad taste "pleased to meat you sign".

What a silly remark. Meat is a large food industry and if you know anything about meat then butchers provide some of the highest welfare meat and quality free range products. If you are a vegetarian then please don’t sully our conversation. Also, the sign says “love to meat you”. 

Is their meat from British farmers or imported?

That's a very good question .....thr rib eyes I had were Brazilian......amazing flavour....but the aged T bones were British. I think it's a mixture....I'm popping in today so will ask. Thanks for picking up the digital cudgels Oisin.... I'll also enquire about them preparing a bavette cut or Onglet

They have improved recently, they defo have the best quality beef and lamb as it stands in Harringay.

They are quite expensive though.

The shop has looked more busier these last couple of months

Will they be selling Turkeys I wonder? Guess not

I popped in today and picked up a pack of Beef PAD salmon cut which I've never tried before ....the quality, flavour and texture was superb........I did ask about Turkeys and yes they'll be getting a supply for December....

Word of warning. Make sure you check out the aged steak you buy thoroughly. The butcher has poor English and tried to sell me fresh ribeyes despite me asking if they were aged. The only aged steak is the bone in stuff to the right side of the counter. The steak that I did buy, inexcusably had the bark on one side which he deliberately did not show. Supposed to cut that off and not supposed to sell any pellicle. Also, the steak was not flat. Pictures attached. While it was eatable, I would recommend to ask to see the steak all over and demand a good cut.
