Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello!

Today in Harringay Road I woke up to no power (from 05:20 and it is still off), this is I believe at least the 4th such outage since December 2017 - each lasting over 3 hours.

As inconvenient as it is to have this happen, there may be a silver lining. I believe this means anyone who experienced 4 such outages in any 12 month period is due for £75 compensation according to the documentation from UK Power Networks:

-------------------

If you have had four or more power cuts in a year, each longer than three hours, we will pay you £75. The payment is the same whether you are a domestic or a business customer. You must claim the payment within three months of the end of the year, which runs from 1 April to 31 March. When making a claim you will need to provide the address of the property affected and the dates of the electricity supply failure. (You cannot include in your claim any incident where we have already paid you, or any power cut that we told you about in advance).

-------------------

Here's a list of the occurrences impacting our place in Harringay Road in case it helps anyone else:

Unfortunately their website is down https://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/ so I'm not sure the best way to raise a claim, but I'll be doing this soon.

Maybe. The Power Networks info seems to say that you must claim within three months of 31st March 2018 so only the current outage on  22/8 would be considered, the earlier ones being out of time.

But good luck if you try.

It is confusing, but to me that part seems to refer to the deadline by which you must submit the claim rather than the period over which the outages can be measured.

It would be ridiculous if 4 outages in a rolling 12 month period does not qualify, but I am not 100% sure either.

I will nonetheless be talking to UK Power Networks once their website (and our power) is back up.

You may well be right about this :( , the CAB seems to say it *must* be during that specific period:

Multiple power cuts

You can get an extra £75 compensation if your power goes off more than 4 times in 1 year, for more than 3 hours each time. The year runs from 1 April to 31 March.
