Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

November 2011 is an eventful month for Route 29.

1. 20th November sees its 100th anniversary.

2. 26th November sees the last bendy bus on the route (and two weeks later with the withdrawal of the buses from Route 207, the end of the bendies in London).

Two last days:

Bendybuses - The last day.

Wood Green Garage. The Bendybuses were operated by Lea Valley Garage, but used WN to terminate.

Fifty years earlier- the scene wasn't much different:

Wood Green Trolleybus Depot (WN) - 1961

K1 1281 Trolleybus leaves the depot to take up service for the evening peak on 25th April 1961, the last day of service of routes 627(EM, WN), 629(WN), 659(EM) & 679(EM).

Wood Green depot wasn't on the line of route of the 627, so buses ran in and out of service via Lordship Line & Bruce Grove. There were some complicated workings (because trollybuses had to follow the wires)  such as:

Wood Green WN Depot > Tottenham Hale > Waltham Cross
Tottenham Court Road > Tottenham (Snells Park) > Tottenham Hale > Wood Green WN Depot

After the withdrawal of route 625 in April 1960 some conductors still used the number 625 from Wood Green To Tottenham Hale.. The only case of a route number still being used after the route was officially withdrawn.

A RM can be seen in the background on 'the stand'. This is an 'off-peak' working of route 275 (the 625s replacement) to Wood Green.
