Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Run by the Geffrye Museum, ‘Make A Scene’ invites young people from all over London to join an exclusive film making project this summer. Anyone aged 14-24 is invited and the event is completely free. Whilst taking part, you will get the chance to work with museum staff and Chocolate Films, an award winning video production company who have worked with the Tate Britain, Hayward Gallery, Old Vic Theatre and the BBC.

This is a chance to direct, film, produce and edit your own short film with the crew. Your tools will be objects from the Geffrye Museum’s collection and the period rooms will be available for inspiration and investigation into the theme of ‘home’, bringing your chosen object’s story to life through film.  With resources on tap, professional help available and free food, it’s every filmmakers chance to take a step into the world of culture and get something great out of it.

The summer project runs from Monday 13 – Wednesday 22 August so don’t hesitate to book your place as spaces go fast.

To apply, email rcrofts@geffrye-museum.org.uk

There's a second film making opportunity at BFI.

Inspired by the BFI’s Hitchcock season, BFI Future Film is bringing you another chance to make amazing short films at their DIY Film Fortnight – and this year they’re making thrillers. This practical fortnight includes masterclasses and workshops to help you understand and create short thriller films on a micro-budget. They’ll cover everything from planning and production to editing and SFX. At the end of the course the final films will be shown on the big screen in front of industry professionals and invited guests.

We have 12 FREE places to give away (normal price £30) to enthusiastic young filmmakers between the ages 16 and 19 who must be available every weekday from 17 to 31 August between 10am and 4pm (not including bank holiday Monday, 27 August). Please only apply if you can attend these dates.

Applications close at 5pm on Friday 10 August and is open to those aged 16 to 19. More on Ideas Tap.
