Today is World Tuberculosis Day.
According to BBC Radio 4 yesterday, there is a worrying increase in the incidence of tuberculosis, once thought to be virtually extinct in this country. The disease appears to be spreading in large cities, particularly amongst rough sleepers, drug users, alcoholics and others whose immune systems may be impaired by poor nutrition.
Tuberculosis is usually spread by coughing or sneezing but it can be caught from dried spit.
Please support any move to make spitting in public an offence, as it was until 1990.
