Worsening eyesight reduces my pleasure reading.
John Berger died ten years ago at 90. Verso, his last publisher, routinely offer a free ebook with paper copies. And I've replaced almost all my treasured Berger. But not one novel, The Foot of Clive. A little Penguin paperback published in 1970. It was second-hand and marked "6p" in pencil on the title page. The book was originally five shillings.
At my last St Anne's routine checkup the doctor suggested I should still be able to read paper books. Up to a point she was right.
I made a serious effort under our lamp branded:"Serious". But all the book's leaves are a shade too brown.

After my cataracts were removed I came across some notes and before/after drawings, made by John Berger who had the same operations., It seems he never stopped learning, sharing and teaching with insight, As he stared in curiosity and wonder.
Also at how other artists had viewed our worlds.
Like many thousands of other people, I first came across his BBC TV series: Ways of Seeing.
