Transport for London confirm 144 bus will use new stop in Muswell Hill

Good news for Harringayers who travel to and from Muswell Hill.

Muswell Hill Lib Dem councillors are pleased to announce the news that the 144 bus will now use the new bus stop on Muswell Hill roundabout.

A new bus stop for the W7 route on Muswell Hill roundabout was introduced in 2012. Since then the Lib Dems and local MP Lynne Featherstone have been campaigning with residents to get the 144 service using this very popular new bus stop as well.

At the moment the 144 stops on Muswell Hill, the very steep slope makes it extremely difficult for residents with disabilities or families with buggies to get on the bus. When the new bus stop on Muswell Hill roundabout was introduced for the W7 route in November 2012 local Lib Dem councillors pushed for the 144 stop there as well. However, Transport for London (TfL) originally said there was not enough space.

TfL have now said that arrangements are being made to allow the 144 bus to use the new W7 stop to pick up passengers. The news was revealed after Cllr Martin Newton requested an update on the issue for the Muswell Hill Area Forum on 17th July.

TfL are still finalising the details but it is likely the 144 will start using the new stop on the roundabout by the end of the year. The existing stop for the 144 on Muswell Hill will also remain.
