Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

So folks, it looks like it's going be a bit rainy on Sunday. But please don't let a bit of precipitation put you off coming to the market. Don your waterproofs, grab your wellies and unfurl your brolly because Jessica has assembled a fine list of traders - and we really do need your continued support.

And we want to hear your feedback, comments, pictures and your recipes - so feel free to post or Tweet us your musings. Oh and please spread the word to friends, family, neighbours and colleagues!

Yum - the Kat-Su chicken I had last week was amazing....

But I will have to go early - Andy Murray was made in Scotland after all!

Probably worth repeating where & when this is held - in addition, don't see it listed in this sites events page?

I think the issue here is that on this site the market is listed under: http://www.harringayonline.com/page/local-farmers-markets rather than on the standard events calendar, I for one never normally look under this tab - if its not on the calendar most people won't know its on!

Useful feedback then, Antonia. I agree IJP that most people won't look at the market listings. Between us all we've added 15 postings on the site about the market over the past six weeks and listed the first week in events. We also had a big banner ad in the weekly mail out. Thankfully hundreds of people did get the message. Still, I'm not surprised that others didn't.

(So, Ant, a weekly listing in events then?)

many thanks for including link had no idea market existed 07/07/2012

This is all good publicity, but I would also recommend taking a leaf out of the Ally Pally Farmer's Market and putting some A frame signs either end of the road when the market is open to drive passing trade in and reassure people they're heading in the right direction.

Went for the first time today, well done for all the hard work so far!

I went to the Market for the first time today and took two neighbours and we ate and bought delicious food.  I will definitely be visiting regularly.  I really enjoyed it.

BUT some of the take away traders use non-recyclable containers such as polystyrene.  PLEASE NO!!!!  They CANNOT be recycled into our wheelie bins.  I checked the A to Z of recyclable materials and they are an absolute NO_NO.  Can someone alert the traders please that they should use the tin foil containers.

I think us punters should make a point of mentioning this to any offending stallholders, as the traders may respond more quickly if they know it is affecting purchasing decisions...

Meanwhile, two thumbs up to Taste of Sri Lanka. Delicious - am slowly working my way around all of the stalls, but they are the tastiest so far in my book.

Thanks Malcolm and Jessica.  I will alert the traders and suggest the alternatives.  It really does affect purchasing decisions.  I noted that I got my Sri Lankan aubergine curry in a foil container.  Took it home and made dal and cooked rice and hey presto there was my Sunday dinner!
