Thank you Hugh and Linka.

Regards

Thanks for posting this, what a fantastic read. I got quite caught up in it.

A very sad story but I can't help but think that if journalists still wrote like this I would read a lot more newspapers.

It all sounds rather familiar, don't you think ?

Foreigners, ineffective immigration laws. This wasn't Ye Daily Mail was it ?

I certainly thought: 'hmm, familiar rhetoric' when I read it!
Just to clarify my remarks - I didn't agree with the immigration comments in the article. I just quite like the descriptive tone and the use of words like, 'plucky'
There's a nice piece on another local website, here, Cem and another piece here
Also just stumbled across this post on this topic from some while ago by Film Exposed.
There's also a plaque at the police station on the High Street near Bruce Grove, unveiled for the centenary.  The plaque calls it the Tottenham Outrage, rather than Tragedy.
Yes, it always used to be known as the Tot'nam Tradegy .. I have seen a clip of a very early British film based on the incident, using real-life shots of the tramchase and shooting.. not sure where those were filmed tho' - most probably in West London..?
Just noticed that this incident has a Wikipedia page all of its own.
Janet Harris, a friend, is a local historian. She has written a book about it - you can email her at janet(dot)harris98(at)gmail(dot)com if you have a question(s) or would like to buy a copy
