Tottenham Job Centre - Does anyone know what is happening?
I am due to sign on tomorrow morning. I've been ringing the job centre but just get an engaged signal. I then rang the hornsey number and was told that I should sign on at Stratford. They offered to put me through but put me through to stratford upon avon instead (!). I then tried to ring Stratford direct and was put on hold for about 20 minutes. I wish the government or council would just post an update to let people know what is happening.....any helpful information gratefully received!!

I have friends who work at Tottenham JCP who couldn't find out until 8am this morning where they were supposed to go. I will try to speak to one (after 10) and report back but most likely go to your next nearest Jobcentreplus office (possibly Edmonton). Which Post Code do you live in? Rumour staff will be deployed elsewhere for a month - but may not be true. I will report your concerns as customers shoudl clearly beable to access info easier than this. Assume no one can get near Tottenham JCP so no use putting notice on door. Do not go to Stratfors-as far as i know that is just a benefit processing cnetre and does not sign people on etc. Which section were you hoping to see?

Thank you very much. I'm a lone parent on JSA and our postcode is N17 although we are much nearer to Wood Green (just by Turnpike Lane tube station). I'm not sure where our nearest JCP is, but will try and find out. Any further info gratefully received!

Your nearest JCP is the Wood Green office in Western Road N22 behind Shopping City. Unless i get back with more info i suggest you go there. It is in Granta House next to the school near common/Decorium. I'll ty to get a phone number for you

Ok the switchboard number for Wood Green is 020 8899 3200. Explain your situation and do not be fobbed off with going to Stratford. Customers have the right to sign on at any JCP they choose (although this is not publicised). They should be able to advise if you have been advance signed (something managers can do for all customers eg at Christmas) and don't need to worry for 2 weeks. Or that you must sign on at a specific office. Do not risk not signing on just because they do not know what is happening or your benefit will be stopped. If you get nowhere ask to speak to the manager Anna Mason. If they decline to put you through call her direct on 020 8899 3259. But please DO NOT mention me by name as i do not want my friends involved in this. hope this is helpful. Good luck

Tottenham Jobcentreplus office still closed and may be for some time. Staff deployed to other offices because ground floor fire wrecked and teh IT destroyed so may be some time (weeks possibly) before Tottenham reopens. you might want to ask Wood Green if you can transfer claim to Wood Green
