Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi everyone,

On Saturday 28 June, I'm launching Tottenham Green Market, on Tottenham Green, the green space near the Town Hall in N15.

It's for six Saturdays initially, and depending on the response it will probably be a year round market after.

People I've spoken to about this have been very excited about the market and it would be nice to see people in and around Tottenham join us for this.

There is a huge amount of talent in Tottenham, and through the market they will now have a place to sell their products to locals too. Think of Wildes Cheese (who makes his cheese in Tottenham and is very popular) and Flourish Bakery (who supply hotels and restaurants with their great bread and pastries), plus Beavertown Brewery, who have just moved to a space in Tottenham Hale.

There will be stalls selling local, seasonal produce, cakes, coffee, pickles, jams and chutneys, street food
and more!

The opening hours are 10am till 3pm, and there will be live music and a bar too.

Hope to see you there!

Jessica

Good news.  Can you do a poster so we can put it on notice boards?

Does this mean that you have given up on finding a site for the Harringay Market ?

HI Jessica

Looking forward to visiting the new market on 28th, have you thought of West Green Rd Green as a possible venue for the Haringay Market? would be great to have something that end of Haringay.

Jessica, given that works are still underway on the western part of the Green, can I assume this is on the eastern part?  Is that the longer term plan, or is the intention eventually to move the market to the western part?

Have you spoken to people who in the past have tried to make a go of stalls on either part of the Green.

Out of curiosity, what do mean about there being "a huge amount of talent in Tottenham".

The green is fenced off to allow the new turf to settle, it takes three weeks.  I shouldn't have to be writing this, there should be big signs on all the fences, but meh...

So when should the western part of the Green be open to the public, Pam?

Will the parks staff be checking possible wear on the newly laid turf?  If there's one lesson that should have been learned from the disgraceful way the western part of the Green was allowed to deteriorate by Haringey, it's that desire lines/paths need to be monitored and damage repaired.

Jessica should be given support and encouragement for this initiative. All you do is snipe. Stop it. I hope it's a major success--plan to be there around 11am.

Not going to Gay Pride Justin?

No. Equality has, largely, been achieved. What is in now for? Far too commercial in any case.

If you think we're all OK, try walking through Markfield Park holding hands with your boyf on one of the days when UAF is not there to protect you.

Pride is for fun, even when I'm being grumpy that disappears with the first load of drummers. it's also crucial for the young ones. That's why I keep dragging myself along. That and the need to add to my continuous photo record since 1977.

Are you saying there isn't a huge amount of talent in Tottenham, Alan??

Abster, do red-headed people like orange juice?
