Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi, does anyone know if Tottenham Christmas Market is still on for Tomorrow? I've just driven past the sight where it usually is, opposite the Town Hall and it looks like an Archaeological dig!

Hi Sharon,

The council website says it is..

Tottenham Winter Market

On Saturday 30 November, Haringey Council will be hosting a Winter Market from 12noon-6pm - with the Christmas light switch on at 5pm.

As far as I know, Sharon, it'll be on the other side of the road, in Tottenham Green East.

It'll be on from 12 noon until 6pm with the Christmas lights switched on around 5pm.

The "Archaeological dig" is part of the £1.2 million makeover of Tottenham Green - starting with the main western part of the Green. I very much hope that the new works are successful in renewing without damaging the essential "green jewel" character the Green itself.

Unfortunately there are still lots of "regeneration experts" who have a touching belief in their fantasies of having a "Café Culture"  and a "Cultural Quarter".  Haringey Council specialises in dragging these zombie ideas out of the grave and trying to refresh them with ever more public subsidy.

Where Pam Isherwood and I might agree is that for an example of "Café Culture"  they should have talked to the people at Wards Corner.

Thanks Alan, that makes sense. I'll be there. My Daughter is one of the very talented Gladesmore school singers. It was lovely last year, looking forward to it.

Sharon, I double-checked just in case. Definitely Tottenham Green East - no stalls or anything on the western side. For anyone who wants to see and listen to the choir, I'm told they're due to sing at 4.45pm. But ask your daughter who will know all the arrangements.

Best to get there well before, of course, and sample the stalls.

Of course! I'm hoping for some Tottenham Artisan bread and candles. I think performances start at 4pm and include The Tottenham choir, Gladesmore school and Haringey's young poet laureate.
