Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello.
I am in need of a tooth implant due to some unfortunate dental work in the past and am very nervous after the last dentist can anyone recommend a good dentist who has done an implant for them and maybe tell me it's not too awful and painful ! Thanks in advance

Haha good tip I shall remember that tho I'm sure I will be too scared to chew gum ever when I get it done

Just to add a bit more info to this (I'm Lisa's husband) the friend who recommended Eugene Marais works for a company who supply implants for dentists to use. His exact words to me were "there are only 2 or 3 dentist that I know that I would allow anywhere near my mouth when it comes to implants". That's why we called in a favour with him, and Lisa went to see Eugene, even though it was a bit of a trek out to Essex.

My friend is pretty scathing of the regulation required for dentists to be able to call themselves "implant specialists". He jokingly told me it's only a 1 afternoon class where you practice screwing some implants into a piece of wood - then you call yourself a specialist. I don't think he was entirely joking!

So do your research - find out how long they have been doing implants, and what failure rate is. If they won't tell you the failure rate (or say it's 0% ) perhaps think about looking elsewhere...

any gossip on the teaching place in Bath?

I'm afraid not - I don't know much more than the above (which was a couple of years ago). I only could give that much detail because I just searched my text messages and found the conversation I had with my friend at the time!

Thank you frontier honesty I really appreciate it I am doing a lot of research into who to choose as I would not want this messed up thank you again
Gum is terribly unladylike anyway!!!
I'm having some problems with my implant too and have gone to see a specialist at Nova Dental in East Finchley. She is very good and has given me a few options as my implant will need to be removed down to poor alignment by my previous dentist.
She also tried out a new no needle injection on me.
Tell me more Jojo please , I didn't even think about that what is her name and what does a no needle injection Involve I like the sound of that !
Thank you

If Eugene Marais is the one in Hornchurch, he's just been up before the dentists disciplinary board and  is on probation for 18 months

https://www.gdc-uk.org/MembersOfPublic/Hearings/Pages/default.aspx?...  (I've only skimmed it, long techy document)

So if he's brilliant, this is enough to put you off having it done at all.

Oh dear! That doesn't sound good at all does it!

*never goes to the dentist again*
Oh blimey I'm having kittens again now haha I'm just going to have to ask lots and lots of questions and make sure I do my research. Thank you all for your help

This is my dentist: http://www.finedentistry.co.uk/

He's not cheap but he is good and does implant work too.
