Just to add a bit more info to this (I'm Lisa's husband) the friend who recommended Eugene Marais works for a company who supply implants for dentists to use. His exact words to me were "there are only 2 or 3 dentist that I know that I would allow anywhere near my mouth when it comes to implants". That's why we called in a favour with him, and Lisa went to see Eugene, even though it was a bit of a trek out to Essex.
My friend is pretty scathing of the regulation required for dentists to be able to call themselves "implant specialists". He jokingly told me it's only a 1 afternoon class where you practice screwing some implants into a piece of wood - then you call yourself a specialist. I don't think he was entirely joking!
So do your research - find out how long they have been doing implants, and what failure rate is. If they won't tell you the failure rate (or say it's 0% ) perhaps think about looking elsewhere...
I'm afraid not - I don't know much more than the above (which was a couple of years ago). I only could give that much detail because I just searched my text messages and found the conversation I had with my friend at the time!
If Eugene Marais is the one in Hornchurch, he's just been up before the dentists disciplinary board and is on probation for 18 months

So if he's brilliant, this is enough to put you off having it done at all.
This is my dentist: http://www.finedentistry.co.uk/
He's not cheap but he is good and does implant work too.
