Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This weekend  Capel Manor Gardens will once again be holding its ever popular Spring Gardening Show which is now in its 20th year.

With a strong focus on horticulture and other garden related topics there will be a wide variety of stalls. These range from plant nurseries, garden furniture and fine leathers, to ironworks, sculptures and clothing.

As well as organised walks throughout the day with Capel’s Senior Gardeners, there will also be advice sessions with Gardening Expert Geoff Hodge on both the Saturday and Sunday. He will be joined on the Sunday by Christine Walkden – BBC One Show’s Resident Gardening Expert. Christine will also be signing copies of her new book ‘No-Nonsense Vegetable Gardening’.

To keep the little ones amused there will be children’s activities taking place during the day to include flower, butterfly and bug workshops as well as clay modelling and a live steam train on the front lawn of the Manor House. You will also be able to see falconry displays with up to 14 birds in total swooping through the skies.

Fig Fairs will be organising their ever popular Craft Marquee where traditional arts and crafts will be brought to life with a collection of living heritage stands, including a willow-making display.

Then, to tempt your taste buds, come along to the Food Hall where you will find a large selection of produce on sale, including homemade sausages in 65 different flavours, traditional farmhouse cheeses, jams, chutneys, butter fudge and cupcakes to name just a few. There will also be unique Irish whiskeys and liqueurs on sale. Alternatively if you fancy taking a break why not visit our Terrace Restaurant where they will be serving a variety of delicious hot and cold foods.

New for this year is a display from Stephen James BMW and MINI showing off some of the economical and green benefits of modern cars. They will also be displaying a range of two wheel solutions to get around on so bring along your cycling shorts and try out some of the bikes.

You can also take a stroll over to the Manor House where you will not only find the live steam train and cream teas. Classic Cars will be on display on the Sunday only.
