The Chickenshed Theatre is holding free summer sessions for young people aged from 11 to 16 at The Triangle Children's Centre on St Ann's Road next week.
At the beginning of the project Chickenshed will perform its anti-gang violence production ‘Crime of the Century’. Following the performance there will be workshops allowing the participants an opportunity to voice their feelings and talk about the issues that have been presented. The themes will be ‘Young People – the real story’. In different ways the participants will show how young people should not be stereotyped and should have a voice in their communities.
‘Crime of the Century’ follows the journey of two teenagers as their paths collide until one fatal moment… The style and tone of this piece is contemporary and candid incorporating rap, hip-hop music and ‘street’ terminology, making this a very accessible and gripping show for young people.
‘Crime of the Century’ was a huge success at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It has since toured to over 120 venues with great reactions from its audiences.
Triangle Children’s Centre is at 91-93 St Ann’s Road, South Tottenham, London N15 6NU.
Workshop times:
Wednesday 1 August 2pm – 4.30pm
Thursday 2 August 10.30am – 3.30pm
Friday 3 August 10.30am – 3.30pm
There will be a presentation to family and friends at 2.45pm on Friday 3 August
