...and so we're having a service of Choral Evensong and Benediction, followed by a party in his honour!
Father Philip Atherton* has been the priest at St. Paul's, Wightman Road since the end of 2010. He and his wife, June, have decided to retire and leave for pastures new. Father Philip has overseen many developments at the church, including a growing congregation, the establishment of Music on the Ladder and, most importantly, the installation of a new heating system and a WC! He has been a wonderful friend and pastor to all of the congregation and we will miss him and June when they leave.
In order to see them off in appropriate fashion, we'll be having Choral Evensong and Benediction at the church at 6pm this Sunday, 18 May, followed by a party in the Church Hall (entrance on Cavendish Road) to celebrate all they have done for us during their time here. Needless to say, all are very welcome and, if you are able to make it, I look forward to seeing you there!

That's a nice idea Matthew. But in any case, do try to get along to his farewell service. He's a very nice guy.
That's lovely Matthew - a great image. I think the original (or one very similar) is in the London Metropolitan Archives.
