THE SON - PLAY AT HORNSEY PARISH CHURCH
‘The Son’ is a new play taking a fresh look at the life of Jesus. Although it has grown out of the tradition of the medieval ‘mystery plays’, which were performed by ordinary people in their own communities, this is not a modern translation of the old plays but created from scratch for our local community and setting.
The play is in modern English in a lively style, with touches of humour as well as more serious passages; the aim is to both entertain and move people. It is set in a non-specific time and place, to bring out the universal relevance of the story.
