Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Residents of Alroy and Endymion Road - last chance to submit comments today on planning app on your street!

*consultation closes today*

Will probably affect Residents at 2 Alroy Road & 8-10 Endymion Road the most in terms of amenity  - overlooking and loss of light.  There have been several of these subterranean/ backland developments on the ladder and right across London in recent years.  Would be interested to know people's thoughts. My personal opinion is that this is overdevelopment of the site with very little amenity space for residents as well as the building and materials being incongruous to the local context/ area.

It's simple - developers try and get as much sq footage as possible, and if that means going down (basements) and up, then so be it. I'd wager a small amount that the original proposal went up a further storey or two, and were told to bring it down in line with the original house on the plot.

TL:DR: more money

Yeah it's over development of the site I think and the materials and design generally are a little incongruous to the context.  Some of these mews type developments can work and there was one done on the ladder recently which seemed to go down well with some Harringayonliners.

I actually dont mind this one from the same architect:
