Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The people with the boom box outside Rowley Gardens… what’s the deal?

I haven’t walked by every night, so I don’t know if it is every night, but it seems like nearly every time I walk past the Finsbury Pub there is someone sitting in the grass by the Rowley Gardens playing music on a big portable speaker. My hypothesis is that the Finsbury pays them to do it so they don’t have to pay for a music license? I really have no idea! And no offence meant toward the pub, it’s just the only thing I could think of!

Absolutely not .

He has been there for years and the pub has continually asked the guy to stop as it's a disruption to their customers and of course the neighbours on the other side of the wall. However he is abusive in the extreme when challenged.

Because it is not their land they have little recourse. The guy, who clearly has mental health issues,  lives in one of the houses next to the bus stop at Manor House and is apparently a window cleaner in Dalston.

It's sad as obviously he's lonely and wants attention. I suggested to The Finsbury that they give him a monthly DJ slot but seeing as he's quite a loose cannon they weren't keen.

Any ideas for a happy outcome anyone?

He's upgraded his rig over the years - used to be a boombox now is a massive bluetooth speaker maybe with separate battery

I wondered about him as well. Never noticed him until the last few months when I cycle home, as it is just so loud, and one man.

Always feel bit sad for him, as he is even out in the pouring rain, and clearly lonely. I like the music myself, but wouldn’t want to live in one of those flats and have to listen to it for hours
