Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Forgive me if this is a thread already.
I can't be the only one who has seen the problem at this crossing. So much traffic is trying to get across the junction from Sainsbury's and so much traffic coming down the hill, you can quite often stand waiting for the traffic to clear the crossing even when the green man is lit. The traffic doesn't stop.
It's not necessarily their fault. There comes a point where the drivers can no longer see any traffic signal. There's a blind spot. They can't see that the lights have changed and that the walk signal is showing.
Yesterday I saw a woman who wasn't particularly paying attention have to jump back as a car sped over the crossing. What with that and vehicles stopping across the crossing, including buses, you can wait quite a while to cross.
My partner brought this to the attention of TFL some months ago and they said they would look in to it. Of course, nothing has happened.
I hate to say this is an accident waiting to happen but... it is.

Blimey. Must be a nightmare after sun down. Ha.
Thanks for the map reference. Forgot where I was talking about.

i have been caught here a few times coming out of sainsbury's . there is no light for drivers to see when the pedestrians have right of way. have been yelled at quite rightly!! but without the light to let drivers aware there is only great caution for all involved.it is very dangerous

The law in England allows pedestrians on the road whenever they please. Paying due care and attention is on them, and of course in their interests; nothing bad happens to them if they run us over unless THEY were doing something wrong.

The road code also states that all road users are equal. Nobody has a right to shout at you because they are behind the wheel of a car. I can't wait for them to be left to play with their phones while the car drives itself.

Generally, the " green man " is deliberately shielded so that drivers cannot see it. This is to stop drivers anticipating the change and taking off before the pedestrians have cleared the crossing.

The light to show that pedestrians have right of way is the red one facing the driver.

Well the system is failing on some level. The really annoying one is when the buses park across the crossing. Even if they haven't seen the signal, they CAN see the traffic and to stop on the crossing the way they do is really irritating. I don't fancy trying to wriggle round it with my kid in a buggy.

Seconded - it's pretty dangerous around there
