Thank you, why nothing can be done about the pigeon shit as the passage ends at the North end is hard to understand.  It must be a health hazard for residents and the shops there as well as us pedestrians.

What do you suggest could be done ?

Short of adopting the Tom Leherer solution .

Gosh, he makes it sound really interesting.

Never knew that about the Falkland Rd postbox :) Thanks andy.

Er I think Ian might need a visit to a library - what he sees on that early map is I think (Hugh?) a watercourse that became the main sewer in the period the development of Harringay began. That sewer runs under the passage - back in I think the late 50s they had problems and I can recall one section being closed for ages while they excavated and repaired it.

There is a map I have seen that shows the sewer system with all its house branches into the streets, the take off along the streets into the main sewers and the I think three main arteries along Wightman Road, the Passage and Green Lanes.

I also think Ian needs a visit to Specsavers if he cannot see the blindingly obvious reason why it is now known as the Ladder estate. Never mind wonky! Cheek!

I notice that none of these sewers actually fall within Harringay at all. Turnpike Lane is still called Tottenham Lane on this map and that positions the Ladder series of roads which are much later than this document deals with.
