Over in another discussion, a new Ladder resident completely understandably referred to himself as living on
The Ladders. Who can blame him. It's what the street signs say.
Here's my comment on that.
Don't let the Council's signs fool you. No one knows why, but some buffoon at the Council ordered signs which say "The Ladders". It's illogical and doesn't reflect local usage.
I say illogical because, as I'm sure you realise, the western part of the neighbourhood of Harringay is called
The Ladder because it looks like a ladder on the map. It certainly doesn't look like ladder

We already have the
Council telling us that they've decided to do away with the neighbourhood of Harringay. This Ladders thing on top of that is all a bit much really.
I wonder what would make the Council listen? They haven't done so far. Is it time for some gentle disobedience on these signs?
