Has anyone else noticed the huge improvements to the situation on Duckett's Common?
I've been aware of the increased police response due to the surge of complaints to police, councillors ( inc. David Schmitz) and David Lammy and, at the moment, the increased policing of the Common has made a significant difference to the level of crime on the Common.
As I'm often one of the first to point out where the authorities are getting it wrong, I just wanted to point out that they've actually been very effective this time around ;-) Especially effective seem to have been the Friends of Duckett's Common who liaised with the local police and found a strategy for tackling the problem.
Obviously the cold weather tends to clear the gangs away as well but last year the problem persisted through the winter, so the increased policing of the Common and is definitely improving the situation.
Fingers crossed that it continues....

Good to hear patrols are being carried out ... as they should be. One shouldn't have to badger their MP or councillor for this to happen.
But in a world of limited resources and budget cuts, there are competing claims on police time. Resources are allocated, as ever, to whoever shouts the loudest. In this case, I'm glad they recognized both the severity of the issue on the Common and the level of concern of the local community and then acted accordingly.
