Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Since we had a wee spamming incident yesterday morning, when last night I had a question about our simple UK-centric sign-up question from someone with a Canadian e-mail address, I though a little caution was warranted. Here's the surprising exchange (The content of his first email is simply a repetition of the sign-up question which I chose since most of the spammers seemed to come from abroad and I thought it was a question the answer to which would only be obvious to people living in the UK. With a very few exceptions it's been surprisingly effective in keeping out spammers):

Hi Jacob,

It seems like you're from Canada. We've had a couple of spammers join from your side of the pond recently. So, do you mind if I check why you want to join up. You're most welcome if you're not a spammer.

So, folks, please don't be mad at me for robbing you of the chance to find out all about the 7th Guangzhou International Water Heater Exhibition (GWHE2012).

His politeness makes me wonder if some of these folk have any idea at all of how annoying their actions can be. He just seems like a busy worker bee in a thriving economy trying hard to do his job and get ahead and not even pause to think about any downside of his actions. I guess putting oneself in his position, you can just about empathise with where he's coming from (and before I get picked up on this - no I'm not condoning his behaviour).
