Yes the sentiment expressed at the beginning of the letter is cheesy and insincere but as Brian has told us on more than one occasion, he is a politician and cheesy and insincere are not far away from "vote for me".

Deselected does not mean he was kicked out of the Labour party. He left them of his own volition.

Wow, he's pretty desperate to be in power, isn't he? Why on earth would someone vote for him with this track record of shoddy work and downright arrogance?
