The Guardian reviewer suggests that;
Unfortunately, a large proportion of the first night crowd appeared to be the kind of lager-throwing, knuckle-dragging troglodytes last seen en masse devoting themselves to religiously pursuing Oasis around the country.
Not sure how Mr Gittins managed to meet a good number of the 40,000 people there to make that judgement. Any troglodytes on HOL go along to drag your knuckles through Finsbury Park's flower beds? Would be good to get your reviews here.
just made another complaint call
the music volume just goes up and up
like they know very well that it's the last night and the last band
I can't hear it over the sound of my neighbour's tv tonight... who do I complain to?
not everyone is watching TV, LMS
and neighbours turning up theirs only contribute to even more noise pollution
people are different and do enjoy different things
and being forced to listen to anything which can be heard miles away is IMO a violation and intrusion
I agree. This time it was the turn residents in Haringey to face a little disruption. Has anyone ever been to the London Marathon, Wimbledon or Notting Hill Carnival ? All big events with an impact on local residents, but I bet we all forget that as we troop down to SW19 or W8.
I was at the show last night and their were many people who had travelled from Liverpool, Sheffield and Manchester. They will leave our borough with positive memories of a great night out and it will counter some of the other things people hear about Haringey and Finsbury Park (just last week we were all over the news with Abu Hamza).
There were also not too many of the knuckle dragging lager throwers last night - maybe that was just the 'get tanked up after work on Friday' crowd.
Were you close enough to get any good pictures, Nigel?
We were quite close but only had an phone with us, so pictures are very average I'm afraid Hugh.
It's not every one with a 'not in my back yard' attitude. But for me it most definitely is 'NOT IN MY BACKYARD! Which it is, directly behind me here, just a few hundred yards away. And it's LOUD. I can hear every word, even them talking to each other between tunes. I don't even have my own music up that loud in my own house. So why should I have to suffer theirs?
Agreed, I'm still in favour of using the park for gigs. But preferably more like the Roses, in that we couldn't hear the lyrics as far away as N15...I was actually singing along earlier, so there's something odd going on with the acoustics for sure.
