Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Tesco are opening a store in Wood Green, next to Burger King at this end of the High Rd. They've been gutting out/re-designing the space for months. Opens in 4-6 weeks apparently.

All the more reason why Morrisons should be happy to see the W1 bus pulling up in their carpark every 15 minutes?
Indeed, maybe they could subsidize the W1. Competition down the other end of the High Rd will be strong with Sainsbury's, M&S & now Tesco, right next to the tube station.
Thanks Graham. That Sainsbury's is very popular but much smaller than where it used to be. Tesco will definitely get the tube commuter traffic.
As much as I use supermarkets, I won't be using this store as I rarely use the Tescos at the Bottom of Hewitt, using these generic neighbourhood stores kills local, independent shops. Just ask the newsagents at the bottom of Alison that has folded.
The battle of convenience. They aren't called convenience stores for nothing. Those that provide survive, independent or not. Of course price & location are other factors. Tesco (certainly not my favourite food store by a long shot) replaces Curry's who folded because lots more people buy their gadgets on-line. Tesco fills an empty store on the high rd. It'll be used because (as you've said before elsewhere) it's got a strong brand & it is in a good location. The Tesco at the bottom of Alison isn't well stocked. Remains to be seen if this new one will be. The convenience store next to Nomad will suffer though unfortunately (for them).
Smaller indies cannot compete on prices to the big boys such as Tesco as they buy in bulk and are very hard on suppliers in demanding they supply at lower costs, this is common aggressive business practice that especially Tesco and Asda (Wallmart) use.

Many companies won't even deal with them now.
