Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi everyone,

Today a fault was identified in my telephone wiring at home - the phone seems to work ok on the test socket so there is a signal coming into the house.  However, neither the phone nor the internet will work from the usual main socket, the second socket in the house or when plugged into the filter connected to the test socket.  My broadband provider says this means there must be a fault in the telephone wiring inside my house but they want to charge £99 just to send an engineer out.  This seems extortionate.  Does anyone have any recommendations or know anyone who might be able to sort this out for a more realistic fee?  Any suggestions gratefully received.

BHi Kumari - did you find a reasonable phone engineer - I need an extension socket putting in. Be inetrested to know if you found anyone!

I found this chap online - he does N. London but not spoken to him yet.  http://www.exbtengineers.com/telephone-extension-socket/

I also would recommend Tony Cox of Commsmaster, an ex BT Telephone Engineer. Experienced and knowledgeable and reasonable price. Tel 07531 949110.
