Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after a teenager was murdered in north London.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 17.30hrs on Wednesday 17 August to Ponders End Recreation Ground, High Street/South Street, Enfield. A boy had been found in the middle of the recreation ground, by a concrete wall - he had suffered a stab wound.
He was confirmed dead at the scene.
He was Leroy James, 14, of Edmonton N9.
A post-mortem will be held at 11.00hrs today (Thursday) at Haringey mortuary.

An incident room is opening under DCI Caroline Goode (Homicide and Serious Crime Command). At present anyone who can assist should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111

DCI Goode said:
"We urgently need to trace anyone who was in the park around that time on Wednesday afternoon, and who may have seen the incident in which Leroy was stabbed. "At this early stage we retain an open mind on the circumstances of the assault, and do need the public's assistance."
If it assists the appeals, Leroy is black.
There has been no arrest in connection with his murder at this time.

Two boys aged 14 and 15, have been arrested for this on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

Sad that other HoL members have not commented. Internet fatigue ?
Perhaps none of us know anything other than what we have read or heard on the news and don't wish to indulge in futile speculation and tut-tutting  ?

No, I think it's just too awful to think about - the boy's parents must be in pieces. I'm not sure of the statistics but it seems like about one teenager a week is killed in London, often but not always by other young people. I have personal experience through friends of the devastation this can cause, not just to families, but amongst the kid's friends.

One of the things that I heard commented on during the riots is that this regular destruction of our young people does not attract much media attention, in fact it rarely reaches national news level, compared to what looting chewing gum from a shop achieves...
