Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Walking along New River today between Hampden Road and where it goes under Wightman Road we found a swan, quite distressed,s stuck in the water between the two sets of grills trapping rubbish.  Anyone know whether it has been reported.  I met a nice lady who said she would call Thames Water.  I will give the RSPCA a go.  Any guidance gratefully received.

On a separate note.  The water is very low and I was wondering whether anyone had heard of any plans to clean this spot of river as it is full of rubbish and dumped items?

Thanks!

Apart from the hazards to swans, the other points you raise are of concern, too - the low water level is something that we should understand more - can anybody enlighten us?
The amount of rubbish and large items abandoned in the water is a concern as these are dangerous for the birds on the water as well as unsightly and signs of neglect of the waterway - and a sad testimony to those that see fit to dump large items in this waterway.
At either end of the footpath - particularly at the turnstile opposite the mosque there are always bags of rubbish and cans. At the other end - opposite Allison Rd on Wightman Rd and leading to the bridge, there is often rubbish strewn over the ground and cans left hanging on shrubs - there has been a half-hearted attempt by Thames Water to put a pathway in, but it is just a sea of mud again.
It is a lovely stretch along which the public can walk - but it is not loved quite enough by Thames Water to maximise its potential.
