I think its great, olften go for quiet sunday roast either wth friends or on my own to read the papers quietly- and the best value roast around by far
no youngsters, they are welcome in the ale or the salisbury- by the way I love youngsters and my work is with them, so appreciate a bit of peace else where

I'd echo that - its great to have a local pub where kids are welcome, but its equally good to have one where they're not!

Just to clarify the OAE doesn't do food. The Salisbury does, but limited and comes with the the attributes listed above. I am not a fan of kids in pubs per say, but Sunday Lunch is family time so I think the GL loses a bit of the market, that's their prerogative. It's a British trait not to be child friendly I suppose.
The Maynard does good Sunday food and allows small humans in. I don't like to venture tother side but options are very limited locally so needs must and all.

I really do like the garden ladder. I also like the great railway tavern at the top of hornsey high street opposite st mary's churchtower. They do great sunday lunches too, and they serve kids.....if that helps.

sunday lunch maybe family time, but if you dont have kids, its not a time for kids end of (whoops- young adults i mean)
sunday lunch family time should be at home with the family- always worked in my household growing up

Loth though I am to push my favourite Irish recipes, purely in the interests of the Garden Ladder and Sir Richard Rich's tranquil enjoyment of gourmet dining, Jo prompts me to ask why Hornsey's Railway Tavern arrangements could not apply on Green Lanes. I append my modest proposal:
"I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout."
