Hello again!
The school summer holidays have started and one would hardly have thought it. It does mean though the start of the food voucher scheme for those who have applied and are eligible (e.g. free school meals) worth a total of £90 over the holidays.
Consequently, existing emergency food provision will still be important to many over the summer. More about the different provision in the borough can be found on the Connected Communities web pages of the Council. The Government registered delivery to Haringey residents from Alexandra Palace of food parcels (about 3,000 helped) will stop at the end of July. People who have been shielding have been told they are 'free' to go out. There is also online shopping available plus Morrisons' food purchasing phone line. Of course we know that many people will not be able to access these services.
At the Gospel Centre food bank we try to deliver to peoples homes when asked, though our resources are limited here. We are now operating from the front of Transform House next to the church ( N8 0LT) as services are due to start in August. Our stock levels are fairly good at present, though we would gratefully receive any non-perishable donations, but particularly
* standard packets of cereals including porridge;
* soup (not tomato),
* chocolate,
* small packets of fruit juice
* toothpaste and deodorants
* as well as cleaning and washing materials.
For queries please reply here or email me at gospelcfoodbank@gmail.com
Many thanks
