Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone have any suggestions of places in Harringay that need volunteers over the Christmas break? I wanted to volunteer for Shelter but they get booked up months in advance. I don't drive so was wondering if there might be opportunities in the neighbourhood.

Thanks and best wishes!

The Gospel Centre at the junction of Hampden and Wightman Rds, and Holy Innocents church on Tottenham Lane run night shelters and drop-in centres for the homeless. If you would be interested in helping, I can put you in touch.

Here's another:

Union Church, in Weston Park road, Crouch End, has invited members of the community to celebrate together on December 25.

People who wish to attend the lunch or want to volunteer on the day should contact the Union Church on 020 8341 3918 or unich@btinternet.com

Thank you John and Hugh! :)

Do they prefer/only accept religious volunteers?

Many thanks!

No idea, I'm afraid, but I'd be surprised if that were the case.

Of course not. They don't insist that the homeless or the volunteers should be " religious "  Nobody gets prayed at  Really the only rules are no smoking, no alcohol and silence after 11pm, applying equally yo the guests and the volunteers.

St Ann's church on St Ann's Road also run a winter shelter and need help with cooking, cleaning up, making guests welcome etc.
