Student Accommodation Block Planned for Lotus Building Site by Hornsey Station
It had to happen some time. That old 'birth of Lotus' building couldn't go unused forever and what with Jewson closing down some time back, it was only a matter of time.
On a quick look the proposal doesn't look too bad. They really seem to understand the need to preserve the Lotus building.

I should have been more generous and say that I think it's a good scheme overall. Providing a public café, increased industrial space, and big wedge of student housing to reduce pressure on the general housing stock - all good ideas. And a good precedent - the existing industrial estate is woefully under-occupied due to the inadequate building stock.
