Beware two thieves around the Ladder - both in their thirties, one was white with a foreign accent - didn't see the other one. The first stopped me today and asked for directions while (I think) the other stole my purse. I was with baby and buggy. They tried to use credit cards in a flight center but didn't have pin numbers.
If (by remote chance) my bright green purse ends up in your front garden or bin, please let me know - it was a gift and a sad loss.

It was in the street. People don't realise it but apart from the odd remarkable exception muggers will avoid the passage, the street offers far more scope to escape.
Hi, yes reported to police, and to clarify it was on the street, not the passage...and more importantly, I've now heard from the daughter of the second man (the black guy) who apparently lives on Fairfax Road - he wasn't involved...it was someone else. Sorry, an honest mistake. For the life of me I've no idea how a second man took the purse. Be vigilant, everyone!
Sounds like the same trick pulled on our elderly neighbour yesterday afternoon in Woollaston Rd. Asked for directions apparently and stole her necklace. Police called. Be wary.
That's so horrible, Hannah. I think they target mothers with babies because they know we're likely to be distracted already - I was pickpocketed on the bus years ago while I was travelling with my baby in a sling.
Might also be worth checking your credit rating in a few weeks, as another time I was pickpocketed (it's happened to me a few times) the thieves set up an Asda credit card using stuff in my purse as ID and then of course never paid the bills. Perhaps that wouldn't be possible now, but just in case.
