Strange ATM interaction
I saw a tweet earlier today about ATM fraud and wanted to share my cash point experience from a couple of weeks back.
Barclays on green lanes being the cash point in question. It was around 11pm I needed a tenner. One cash point was out of order the other was being used by a suited gentlemen. He was on his phone whilst using the machine, texting then using it, then back to texting. I waited quite a while for him to finish, he knew I was waiting. He then turned around and striked up a conversation which I kept very short, it was late and I wanted to get home. He ended the conversation by saying something along the lines of “just making conversation” whilst he sniggered at me.
He left, I put my card in the machine, immediately it looked like it was scanning it, followed by a fuzzy screen and then a weird message saying it couldn’t read my card. I managed to get my nails around my card that was wedged in the machine and forced it out. I both cancelled my card and reported the machine immediately.
It was a weird interaction and it left me feeling uneasy. I just wanted to share and let people know to be vigilant.

Agreed , very strange. Thanks for sharing. People be aware, cash machines maybe being targeted due to Christmas spending.

This happened to me - I got the same error message at the same ATM about a month ago v early in the morning, but I was slower than you and it ate my card. A man came up to me when I was standing at the machine and asked if everything was ok. The machine had been tampered with and they got £250. I called immediately to cancel the card and they had also tried to take out a further £700. It was fixed (and they refunded me), so v disappointing that it’s happened again. I won’t use that machine again.

Joke is it seems to happen daily
Herd many reports about Barclays next to Wood Green Station
Yet aware there is a camera recording all people that activate machines
Also aware that police often park their Mobile Station and Video Van opposite
And noticed it has cameras looking at Bank
Have also noticed Police and Transport Police Lottering around the Area
Even seen a Police dog unit moving people away from area
Also aware that people scan phones that have Active Bluetooth. Herd they get Drug price lists sent to them But understand that a couple was caught by persons they should not upset. And seem to be missing
