Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

On Saturday 11 June at about 1.30pm, my son (aged 12) was 'relieved' of his Mongoose Crossway 850 bike.  He was out with his friends in Falkland Road, N8 and a man of about 20-25 thought that he should have the bike. The man cycled off on it towards Wightman Road and then towards Finsbury Park. The bike is black with yellow markings. It has the original Bontrager back wheel but the front wheel is different.  We had bought the bike about a month earlier.

I spotted the bike yesterday (Sun 26 June) afternoon. A young black man was riding it. He turned in front of me from Wightman Road into Duckett Road. The bike now has 2 back lights. Please keep a look out for it.

Gosh this has annoyed me, what kind of a person does that to a 12 year old! I really hope your son gets his bike back and there is some kind of justice. What a horrible event for a young man. Will defo look out for the bike! Good luck!
Thanks Osbawn and Sally. We were really glad that no one was hurt but feared that he might not want to go out again. He was out a few hours later and has not stopped, but he was a bit worried about seeing the bloke again. I think that we reassured him that the bloke was not likely to recognise him.

Please keep a look out for it.

Will do. Think I've seen this guy riding various bikes in Falkand Rd recently.

That's awful Yvonne, I'm glad your son is okay. I'll keep an eye out for it too.

I've lost mine of Sat. From Fonthill Road. I've got back to my flat and notice the bike disappeared from the staircase.

Stolen bikes often moved on through ebay so might be worth keeping a watch on that

Sadly not sure what good it's going to do you to either see someone riding it locally or see it on ebay.

Yvonne - Have you reported it to the Police - SNT - Jono / Glyn etc ?
Did you take a note of the frame no etc ?

Hi Andy

We reported the theft straight away. The police arrived shortly after to take statements and my son and I had a ride around with them to see if he could identify the thief.  I reported my sighting on Sunday and they said that they would send out an alert locally. My son was asked to go to the robbery squad office in Tottenham to look at picture sand see if he could identify the man. I can not fault the police in our dealings with them on this. Unfortunately we did not take a note of the frame number.
